Sometimes a story resonates with people and you get a lot of readers/feedback. Sometimes all you get are a few clicks and silence...

Back in 2011 for NaNoWriMo I wrote a story called "The Dragon Hunter's Daughter"

I'm fairly proud of that story. It's my first completed NaNoWriMo entry (I've finished something every year since, but it was the first.)

It's really a stand-alone story, unlike the Mega Crossover space opera I've been writing since then every year. I'd like, some day, to turn it into a real story, something people might pay for, though I suspect it might never happen at this point.

I've since repurposed parts of it into something one of the characters in my Glee/BtVS crossover series tells (not my space opera). Not sure I'll ever finish that version. It is more work than I expected to extract just parts of a story as a story within a story.

But with this whole COVID-19 thing going on, and feeling extremely pessimistic (because while I'm not OLD, I am in more than one of the high risk groups. Not sure I'll survive a bout of COVID-19.) I decided to start posting the original story to AO3. It's ostensibly a Glee fan fic with Brittany introducing the different chapters in sort of a 'campfire tale' format.

Given that it was written over 8 years ago, and needs some minor tweaking, I think it is turning out fairly well.

But, it doesn't seem to be attracting an audience (except on Twisting the Hellmouth where I am also posting it). A couple clicks on AO3, and dead silence.

Sure, most of my stories as posted on AO3 don't get much attention (probably because I don't write anything explicit (no Slash, and only femslash in a roundabout subtextual kind of way, if at all) or in one of the mega-popular fandoms. But it's slightly disappointing that this one story is being ignored. (Maybe because I have it flagged as requiring an AO3 login to read? Was feeling a trifle protective of this one story.)

We'll see how it goes when I've finished posting it - Saturday hopefully..

Fic Update

My main fic writing effort has been a long running series of stories for NaNoWriMo that I started in 2012 and started posting to AO3 in August 2013 - A Glee centric Space Opera - The Yucatan Job- written in 50K increments every November, and polished and posted the following year. Right now I'm finishing posting the 6th full story in the series (written in 2016) and this November I'll possibly write the 8th and final( maybe) story then post the story I wrote in 2018.

In the mean-time I've been working on some shorter things just for fun. Mostly not posted anywhere as of yet.

But I've been reading a lot of Harry Potter stories over the past six months and was inspired to start a new story.

Not thrilled with the title so that may change but here it is:

The Curse of the Protector

Basically, it's a "Female Harry Potter, raised by a Death Eater" story. Kind of. Sort of. There may be soul mate shenanigans eventually, and if I can get it to work some Bellamione (though I'm doubtful I can), and a crossover - of course. See the story tags for more.

And we have a new story posted at AO3 and elsewhere

Roman Holiday - a sequel to my previous Joyce Summers/Sam Carter crossover. This time it's Buffy/Stargate/Josie and the Pussycats. Part of a series.

Chapter 1 Posted for the 10th Annual International Day of Femslash (Not sure that is happening this year but I posted a story for it anyway.)

Future chapters posted as they are written. The previous story in this series took me a year to post the whole thing. Hopefully this will go a lot faster.

Updated my Glee Space Opera The Yucatan Job (Well, the SG1/DwP road trip side story "A Journalist Abroad" ) - The goal is to have it all posted before NaNoWroMo 2017. Might be able to get it done.

Posted another chapter in my ongoing Glee Space opera, in which our band of intrepid travelers find they've taken the wrong exit, finding themselves even further from home.

Moved over

I've moved everything here (as of this post) over from LiveJournal (and will be deleting the original there shortly.).

So, what's now here? Fan fiction, mostly. Or links to my fan fiction posted elsewhere. Or both. I mainly write Buffy crossover fan fiction, when I write, and that is posted over at AO3, Twisting the Hellmouth, and ff.net. What you'll find here are the non-Buffy stories, mainly several Glee fics i wrote as an experiment (one unfinished).

Most of my stories include non-canon f/f pairings (though, whether they count as femslash, since I don't write sex scenes, is debatable.)

I also do NaNoWriMo every November. For the past few years it's been used to write rough drafts of my Glee space opera series "The Yucatan Job"

Chapter Title: Envelope
Disclaimer: Fox owns the Glee money making machine and RBI came up with the original show idea. Still not mine. Stars Hollow and its denizens belong to others.
Characters: Rachel/Quinn.
When/Where:Seriously AU. Pretend Glee Season 4 didn't happen that way, and lots of Season 3 was different. Quinn opens an envelope.
Note: [19-Oct-2013] It's been a while. A year? Yikes! No excuses other than a traumatized muse after last year's NaNoWriMo. This year's NaNoWriMo starts in a couple weeks. I'll try to get back to posting on a regular schedule after that is over, but no promises. And at least 1 more before it starts.
Word Count: 1,510 (8 of ?)

I've fallen behind writing "Diva On A Half Shell" - I've only done half of planned ficlets. I'm trying to catch up but fair warning - NaNoWriMo is coming up and that's all I plan to work on in November and hopefully get back on track with DoaHS in December.

I've also gone through all 100+ parts of "A Pocketful of Quinn" and have 9 pages(!) of backstory/continuity notes. Might post it here if I can put it into a readable format. Needed to do it to make sure I didn't miss or change anything I shouldn't have accidentally. Hadn't realized I'd done that much world building.

What's the fan fiction equivalent of anime fan service? Does it depend on the fandom? Or is it just a general thing? In anime it is usually something sexual in nature, exaggerated.
